Malela Jiv is not a drama but a novel. Take care before uploading such material on the net…
Almost 60 books have been penned by Pannalal Patel, the only Jyanpith Award (India’s highest literary award) winner in Gujarati prose literature. And his two novels i.e. MANVINI BHAVAI (Endurance: A Droll SAGA in English) and MALELA JIV (KANJI AND JIVI – A TRAGIC LOVE STORY in English) are the best ones. And MALELA JIV is the most widely read one. All those who are interested in reading rich literature, should read it.
More than 70 literary works have been penned by Shri Pannalal Patel. But his most widely novels are Manvini Bhavai (Endurance: A Droll Saga, published by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi) and Malela Jiv (Kanji and Jivi: A Tragic Love Story, also to be published by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi shortly)

If you are a Gujarati and has learnt during schooling days in Gujarati language and if you say you do not know Shri Pannalal Patel, then it certainly reflects on the level of your love for the language.
I am fortunate to have read most of his Novels & short stories etc. Shri Pannalal Patel’s wrtings are very realistic and nas the flavor of rural Gujarat. When you read him, you get to know the real Gujarat and her people. I believe that the new generation of Gujaratis settled any weher in the world should try to expose their chldren to such wonderful creation of Gujarati Literature.

Pannalal Patel’s entire literature is very much close to reality and charectors were from our village, couple of his great stories are 95% close to reality and “Malela Jiv” is the same, “Manvi Ni Bhavai” is also true explanation of our society and condition of our area of 1900 era when there was most difficult drought. I like his liturature best in gujarati.
when i was a high student i read his most books.i was in love with his live-experence books.inspired by GITANJALI–TAGORE–i started writing my GITANJALI.ANYONE IS INTERESTED PLEASE SEND ME E-MAIL.i presently at USA after 3-4 months returning back to INDIA.
During my childhood days whenever I used to visit my maternal uncle’s place, I use to read novels by gujarati authors like KM Munshi, Pannalal Patel, RV Desai etc. Pannalal had impressed me a lot and I used to have a vicarious journey to rural world through his novels. He would depict a graphic picture of various seasons and humane sentiments associated with it. I distinctly remember his novel “Kanku”. The relation between the “shahukar” and kanku who is widow is described so well. His style is unique and often his theme is woman oriented.

I have read some novels by Shri Pannalal Patel. When I was 118 years old, I had praised him in my letter to him and he had humbly answered me at my hostel address.Shri Pannalal’s description of village and village people’s mindset is beyond my descriptive abilities and understanding of village life in Gujarat.
I AM INTERESTED TO READ ALL THE BOOKS THAT HAVE BEEN TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH. IF ANYBODY IS AWARE OF IT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE TITLES AND PLACE OF AVAILABILITY.
Geographically, we both inherit the same areas of birthplaces.

I read many books of legend Pannalal patel, He articulated the social environment of 1941 and on and around 10-15 years. His efforts to buitd social equality among all in the society is salutable..
