I would like to say that I and my family regularly read your articles. Last Sunday, in Divya Bhasker, i read your article on the burning issue of the medium of instruction through English. You have rightly argued that the mothertongue is like our mother. we cannot afford to leave this precious treasure as we even do not dream to give up our mother. i motivate my students to strengthen their mothertongue. English is essential, though. it opens up the ‘window of knowledge’. as far as the ‘sense of language’ is concerned, it is quite necessary that we stick to our ‘origianl mother’! India has produced hundreds of great thinkers, tradition breakers and writers like Gunvantbhai. Countless preachers and saints, leaders like Gandhi and Patel, dreamers like Nehru and 33 crore Kuldevtas to add to the list. The greatest of teachings and the preachings of Lord Krishna seems to be of no use…! Gunvantbhai, how can we pray Lord Rama, who categorically done injustice to the woman as a whole? Raj-dharm? what raj-dharm? Supporting a wrongful practice of an illiterate worker? King has to be a reformist, defender of the truth and true values. Sometimes I feel we are one of the biggest hypocrates building palaces on baseless grounds…! I have started doubting our very culture. Do we really belong to that great civilization believed to be the one with the infinite wisdom and knowledge with total freedom…!Look, how narrowly confined have we become! Women,seniors and children are second citizens..! Are we going back to the medival age? Seems we are in a great turmoil. Do you think there is any way out?

Political environment is so vitiated by so called secularists that I am afraid that yours is a call in wilderness.
I am an apoltcal person. In my experience of 71 years I found People at individuals in general are truly secular. But some people are prone to get provoked by certain elements. most of the time these provocations pass off but each such incident poisons psychic state of society. I do not have to give you examples but by way of illustration I will give two.
Azaruddin enjoyed popular acclaim as a great cricketer and rightly reached to lead India. Neither he nor any body else remembered that he is a muslim but when when disgraced his stance was that he has been singled out for being muslinm.
Recently, BJP wants to hoist tricolor in Lal chawk. It is clear that BJP is raising the banner for gaining political mileage. Yasin Mlik has publicly opposed this move. Chief minister of J & k and Prime minister of India have criticized BJP and appealed to desist from hoisting the flag. But has anybody questioned or even have a word of criticism for Yasin Malik. On the top of it Dr Singh describes the hoisting of flag at Lal chawk as divisive.
I personally did not like BJP’s move and thought it is another ayodhya yatra. But after reading the one sided political reactions of congress and particualarly Dr Singh, I wonder if I need to revise my view.
Congress party has systematically exploited secularism for political gains whenever they could and BJP is following the same route. A terrorist activity by anybody is a terrorist activity. This argument is used only when a muslim is involved. Asimanand and their elk desrve the same treatment as their likes from other religions or other areas like Maoists.
You will remeber “tamas” I have seen such instigation before my eyes in Hyderabad where I lived for 25 years.
New chief of Deoband wants to chart a new course but he will not be allowed. Secular people refuse to see the presnt cordiality of community relationship in Gujarat. They keep harping on Gujarat riots and Modi’s so called culpability. How many “seculars” have endorsed deoband chief?
The unfortunate fact is more fundamentalism is criticised more people turn towards it. Modi’s criticism wins him more fans.

Respected Gunvantbhai Saheb, I respect you as scholar.I read your article in Divyabhasker today(30.11..2014) about Nehru..as usual a good article.However I believe that knowingly/unknowingly we follow the story of the Elephant and 4 blind persons.We view/evaluate anything/anybody with our own vision which differs from person to person.Anyways coming to the point …Linking of joining Head of Ganeshji and Birth of Karna with plastic surgery and genetic science respectively by PM is considered as Unfortunate in your article..I, like many, view birth of Kauravas as Tissue Culture,Birth of Pandavas as artificial insemination and/or technique similar to that ultimately trying to rationalizing/connecting to the present day science..Similarly Astrology is also a science and believers in it should not be considered as backward totally…Our fore fathers were definitely not fools…only thing we lack proper study and interpretations.
